Quilty News

I have finally got 2 completed quilts, although not very big. They would lay on top of a single bed and hang over just a little. The first is Through The Garden Gate, and was put together in a seminole pattern.

The second quilt was the result of an online swap. My theme was ‘what you see in the garden’. Everyone in the group did a block for everyone else. They were all hand embroidered blocks for this swap.

A few weeks ago I was experimenting with a textile piece for Playways on the Net. I am using this same idea to make a larger piece that will probably turn into a wall hanging. Here it is pinned on the design board so that I can move the flowers around until I am happy with the design. The background is a piece of hand dyed cotton. Once I am happy with the design I will lay some purple chiffon over the top. It will be stitched and embellished before having some borders added. Mind you, this plan could easily change as it progresses…

I am thinking it is looking quite ‘painterly’: the background almost appears to be watercolour.
