Charcoal & Paper

This is the first drawing I have done as part of the Visual Art Skills class. It is charcoal on paper. I can see where it could have been worked more but it is not until you step back and look at it the next day with fresh eyes that things become more obvious.

Last week we discussed some theory, including perspective and using contrast of tone. Then we did a few drawing exercise and had a play with different mediums to see how they felt on the paper, whether they mixed or formed a resist to other medium, could we add water, etc. All good fun.

Yesterday was a bit more theory, this time positive & negative space. Next week is scheduled as colour theory/play.

Tomorrow sees the start of my other art classes, in life drawing.
