Visual Feast

I have just discovered 2 wonderful books! If you have an urge to design your own knitwear or textile art piece; or if you just love inspirational pictures full of colour and texture then these books are for you.

“The art of knitting: inspirational stitches, textures and surfaces” and “The art of embroidery: inspirational stitches, textures and surfaces” both by Francoise Tellier-Loumagne. If you know of any more in this series please let me know.

Don’t get these books if you want patterns. Instead there are wonderful photos showing the world around us and how to find inspiration for your knitting or embroidery. The knitting book has some instruction for machine knitters but also advise on how to interpret this in hand knitting. I have posted a couple of pics to whet your appetite. Both books are huge, over 300 pages, with the pages in a 9 inch square format The majority of the pages have at least one picture if not a combination/collage of inspiration.
