My Secret Pal is the best!
A box of goodies from Manchester New Hampshire arrived early this morning. Before we had even had breakfast which was great timing.
As soon as I opened the box this wonderful aroma came out. Ooh, what could it be?
First I opened the letter, 2 pages! Then next out of the box was the yarn of course. My SP had fulfilled my wish to get my hands on some Malabrigo. The colourway is Alpine Pearl and it is the loveliest shades of soft greys & mauves and so soft. (the pic is showing a more blue tone).
Next out, and the big hit in time for breakfast, was REAL maple syrup. Maple syrup made locally. Thank you secret pal, my boys love you! We all had pancakes with icecream & REAL maple syrup for breakfast. Yum. There was also a cute moose shaped lolly pop.
Now, to the source of that lovely smell (which has made my new yarn smell ever so nice!). Lilac soap, mmm. Apparently lilacs are the state flower of New Hampshire and this soap is also locally made.
Next, (yes there’s more!) .. Chocolate covered peeps. After reading a few blogs over Easter it had me wondering what peeps are. Now I know. Inside the box are chocolate dipped marshmallow chickens. Made in Manchester, NH. And a box of Girl Scout Cookies. Now when I was a Girl Guide about 35 years ago (!) we sold Girl Guide Biscuits to raise money, but I haven’t heard of them since then. And, from memory, our biscuits were fairly plain; nothing like these Samoas covered in chocolate & coconut. I am going to be good (I’m still full after pancakes & REAL maple syrup) and not open the peeps or cookies until morning tea time.
