I Just Can’t Help Myself

I told myself I was not joining any more swaps for a while after the current ones finish. I have some personal knitting I must finish, I have my C&G design course to do. I don’t mind knitting alone…but I obviously enjoy the interaction with an online knitting group. I couldn’t help myself. I joined not 1 but 2 knit alongs.

The first was the Inspired By Nature KAL .
Remember I found my Stinkhorn Fungus? Well it did inspire me. I used some Araucania Nature Wool that was in my stash, cast on 30 sts on 7.5mm needles and knit in stocking stitch until all the yarn was used.

Next I found some budget yarn at the local Big W, Sean Sheep Spirit Plain in a bright red (brighter than I would have liked but that’s all they had to choose from). It is pure wool in a thick/thin style – perfect for Stinkhorn “tentacles”.

This is the progress so far. I am going to felt this scarf and want to try a new technique. I’m just hoping I won’t lose the alien tentacle effect. I am going to try rubbing some hair conditioner onto the red tentacles to see if this will delay the felting effect in this area.

The second KAL I joined is the Mystery Stole 3 knit along. There is a link in the side bar that will take you to the yahoo group with all the details. There are well over 1000 members already. I’ve ordered my yarn, and when it arrives I will swatch to determine needle size and also source my beads. I am seriously thinking I will have to buy an Addi Turbo Lace needle for this project (my first Addi !).
