For 3 hours every Thursday morning I am taking an adult education class in Botanical Drawing. It is a 4 week course and today was the second week.
The first week we were to draw a relatively ‘simple’ leaf, supplied by the teacher. It is a Hibiscus Cottonwood that are commonly found growing by water. Large green leaves with a slight hairiness .
I also drew during the week between classes to practice some of what I had learnt.
Today the teacher arrived with a bagful of Ficus leaves. The Moreton Bay Fig is a large old tree that were often planted on farms. I’m lucky to live in an area where quite a few still remain.
