Stitches and Craft Show

Yesterday I went on a bus trip to the Stitches and Craft Show in Brisbane. A long day that started with me getting up at 5.30am.

I’m still not sure of my opinion of this years event. It was definitely different from past years. Instead of the usual cramped aisles and lots of retailers booths side by side it was more spread out and I tended to meander around instead of my usual methodical up & down the row approach of past years. I don’t think it was just the layout either but there seemed to be a big reduction in the number of retailers. This may not be a bad thing as it definitely reduced the number of scrapbooking & beading booths to wade through. Still not much in the way of knitting though. I counted 3 from memory: Morris & Sons, Yarns Galore and The Fibre Hut (more for felting supplies). I attended one workshop run by Yarns Galore and learnt a figure 8 cast on for toe up socks using magic loop. So far I’m only about 3 cms (bit over an inch) along so no pics yet. I’m using Noro sock yarn in a brown/black colourway.

One thing about the show that I did like was the section that allowed for some up & coming indie artisans to show their skills. Sorry I can’t remember you all, but here are links to some:

Two Cheese Please, Trishalan Designs, Peppermint Magazine (a new eco fashion mag to which I subscribed) and Little Diva.
