Zimbabwe Vest

Wow, what a quick knit. Once I got started on the Zimbabwe Vest it was hard to put down & I finished the back in one day.

Check out all those ends I’m going to have to deal with.

The Safari & Savannahs guide contains 3 patterns. I have chosen the Great Zimbabwe Vest because of the shape. I think this will suit my body shape the best. The Not-a-poncho I have attempted once before and found it too shapeless for me, although maybe if I’d knit a drapier fabric it would have been ok, so I may have to re-visit this one day. The other pattern is another vest, with a basket weave pattern. It is very nice but not my style as it comes straight across the chest area with no shaping.

The back panel has a charted pattern down the middle. In the guide Jane says to work this in intarsia but I didn’t want to deal with a heap of little balls/bobbins of yarn so worked this part in fair isle and it was fine.

I’m going to incorporate some beads onto the front, nothing too obvious.
