J is for … July 18

July 18 marks the date of something new. Well, maybe not entirely new but the start of some extra things in my life.
For the past few months I have been working in an analytical chemistry lab. I have a degree in Biomedical Science. You know, Biology, how animals & plants function, not Chemistry.
I’ve always had an interest in how the human body works and what goes wrong when it doesn’t, an interest in all things medical. I’ve studied some Biochemistry but avoided taking subjects in “real” chemistry, so no analytical chemistry.
I thought maybe I’d like to work in pathology or in a hospital involved in medical research.
But no, I get a job in a Chemistry lab! And the thing is, I’m liking it. However, I want a greater understanding of what I’m doing & maybe the chance of promotion. So, starting July 18, I begin studying again. Not a full degree this time, or even a post graduate qualification. I’m enrolled in one class only, Analytical Chemistry. Wish me luck.
To balance the study & also commencing July 18 is an online art course I’ve signed up for.
(Someone remind me there are only 24 hours in the day)
